Working with MDU Resources across North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. Each state operation seems to have different procedures and contacts. Anyone have experience managing relationships across MDU's full territory? Tips for coordination?
MDU relationships across multiple states
MDU corporate in Bismarck can coordinate multi-state issues. Contact their business development office and ask for someone who handles regional accounts. They'll assign a single point of contact.
Montana MDU office is excellent to work with. Ask for Janet Sullivan in commercial services - she covers both Montana and Wyoming territories and really knows the rate structures.
Washington state too - MDU serves some eastern counties. Their Spokane office can handle cross-border coordination if you have accounts in multiple states.
South Dakota MDU territory overlaps with Xcel in some areas. Make sure you're talking to the right utility - seen that mixup cause delays before.
Been working MDU Montana for 4 years. They appreciate detailed documentation and prefer email communication over phone calls. Once you establish that workflow, they're very cooperative.
Thanks everyone. Connected with Janet Sullivan and she's setting up a regional contact system for my multi-state accounts. Much more efficient than dealing with each office separately.
Multi-state utility relationships require patience but the payoff is significant once you have the right coordinators in place. MDU generally operates with good consistency across their territory.
