Entergy Arkansas approached me about consulting work reviewing large customer rate applications. Good money but I currently audit several commercial clients who are Entergy customers. Any ethical issues working both sides?
Working for utility as consultant vs private clients
I work for both AEP Texas and private clients in Corpus Christi. Key is full disclosure and avoiding specific conflicts. Can't work utility consulting on cases involving your audit clients.
Maine PUC has strict rules about this. Had to register as consultant and disclose all client relationships. Worth checking Arkansas regulations.
I do rate design work for Duke Energy in Charlotte but won't audit Duke customers. Too many potential conflicts. Keep the work separate.
Idaho Power contracts require disclosure of any customer audit relationships. They review for conflicts before approving specific projects.
PSO in Tulsa wanted me for demand forecasting work. I disclosed my audit clients and they were fine as long as no direct overlap on cases.
Thanks everyone. Sounds like disclosure is key. I'll be transparent with both Entergy and my existing clients about potential conflicts.
Mississippi PSC requires annual disclosure filings for consultants working with utilities. Check if Arkansas has similar requirements.
