Medical University of South Carolina got moved to wrong rate schedule when they added new building in 2013. Santee Cooper had them on Large General Service instead of Public Authority rate. PA rate has no demand ratchet and lower energy charges. Two years of overbilling totals $427,000. They're processing refund now.

MUSC billed wrong rate for 2 years - $400K+ error
Public Authority rates can be tricky. Sometimes requires specific legislative designation. Did MUSC have to provide additional documentation to qualify?
They already qualified - Santee Cooper just put them on wrong tariff during the service upgrade. Simple utility error but took 2 years to catch. Always verify rate codes match customer classification.
Great catch Tom! I always check rate classification first thing. Utilities mess this up constantly when accounts change service levels or add new connections.
