Client in Mobile paid their January Alabama Power bill online on the due date but got hit with $340 in late fees. Alabama Power says the payment didn't post until the next day due to "processing delays." Client has confirmation email showing payment was submitted before midnight on due date. How do I fight this?
Alabama Power's online system has been having issues lately. Save the email confirmation and check the timestamp. If the payment was submitted before midnight on the due date, they should waive the late fee. Their processing delays aren't the customer's fault.
Submitted the dispute with email confirmation showing 11:47 PM submission on due date. Alabama Power reversed the late fees and credited the account. They admitted their payment processor was running slow that night. Easy win when you have documentation.
