Client in Jacksonville got billed for a transformer upgrade they never requested. JEA says the work order was approved by "building management" but my client owns the building and never signed anything. $23,000 charge. Eight months of back-and-forth with their disputes department and I'm getting nowhere. Thinking about involving the Florida PSC.
JEA billing dispute nightmare - 8 months and counting
JEA can be tough. Did you request copies of all work orders and sign-offs? Sometimes there's a forged signature or they confused your client with another account. Get everything in writing.
Similar thing happened with SCE&G in Charleston. Turned out they had the wrong account number on the work order. The upgrade was supposed to be for the building next door. Check if there's an address or account number mixup.
Had a case like this in Jackson with Entergy Mississippi. Filed a complaint with the state PSC and suddenly JEA will take your calls. Sometimes you need external pressure to get their attention.
Document everything - emails, call logs, reference numbers. If you go to the PSC, they'll want a complete timeline. JEA hates PSC involvement so that usually motivates them to settle quickly.
Update: Filed with Florida PSC last week. JEA called me within 3 days offering to reverse the entire charge. Sometimes you just need to escalate to get results. Thanks for the advice everyone.
