Independence client heard rumors that Missouri is considering electric deregulation similar to Texas. Currently paying Evergy about $0.095/kWh all-in. Anyone know if there's real legislation moving or just wishful thinking? Client wants to know if they should wait before signing long-term contracts.

Lloyd - I follow Missouri legislation pretty closely. There have been some study bills introduced but nothing with real momentum. Missouri PSC seems opposed to full deregulation. I wouldn't advise clients to delay decisions based on speculation about market restructuring.
John's right. Similar rumors circulate in Arizona every few years but never materialize. Regulated utilities fight deregulation hard and usually win. Make decisions based on current market structure, not hypothetical changes.
Christie makes a good point. Even if Missouri passed deregulation legislation tomorrow, implementation would take 3-5 years minimum. Market restructuring is complex and states move slowly. Current Evergy rates are your reality for the foreseeable future.
