FPL vs competitive suppliers - worth switching in Florida?

Jacksonville hotel client asking about switching from FPL to alternative supplier. FPL rate is around $0.10/kWh all-in. Competitive quotes coming in at $0.085-$0.095/kWh fixed for 2 years. Florida isn't fully deregulated like Texas or Pennsylvania. What's the catch?
Robert - Florida has limited competition only for large customers over 1000 kW demand. The quotes you're seeing probably don't include all delivery charges. FPL still owns the wires and will bill separately for transmission and distribution. Total cost might be higher than staying with FPL.
Nancy is spot on. I analyzed this for a Charleston client considering Florida Power & Light alternatives. After adding back all the FPL delivery charges, competitive supply was actually $0.02/kWh MORE expensive. Stick with the incumbent utility unless you're seeing guaranteed savings of 15%+.
