We've had good luck with OPPD demand response here in Nebraska. Key is understanding the curtailment requirements. What's Westar asking for - 4 hour curtailment with 2 hour notice?
Xcel Energy in SD has similar program. Our client earned $1,800 last summer but got called 8 times. Operations team wasn't happy about shutting down production.
The credits are real but make sure your client can actually curtail when called. Penalties for non-performance can wipe out a year of credits in one event.
Good points everyone. Client has backup generator so curtailment is manageable. Going to enroll them for next summer season.
