Found an error in Avista's power factor penalty calculation. They're using peak demand instead of average demand in the formula. Schedule 25 clearly states it should be average. Anyone else caught this?

I've audited several Avista accounts and haven't seen that error. Are you sure you're reading Schedule 25 correctly? The language around PF penalties can be confusing.
Double-checked and I'm confident. Filed dispute with Avista and they acknowledged the error. 18-month refund of $6,400. Apparently their billing system had wrong formula coded since 2013.
Billing system errors like this highlight why we audit line by line. Great catch Nancy. Always worth challenging calculations that don't match the tariff, even when the utility has been doing it consistently.
