SDG&E TOU-A rate - super off-peak vs off-peak confusion

San Diego Gas & Electric question. Manufacturing client on TOU-A rate. They have three time periods: peak (4-9pm), off-peak (6am-4pm + 9pm-midnight), and super off-peak (midnight-6am). Bills show they're getting charged off-peak rates during what should be super off-peak hours. Rate difference is about 8 cents/kWh.
Bob - SDG&E's TOU-A does have that three-tier structure. Super off-peak is definitely midnight to 6am. Could be a meter programming issue or billing system error. Their customer service usually can pull interval data to verify.
I had a similar issue with a different SDG&E account. Turned out the meter wasn't programmed with the correct TOU schedule. SDG&E had to send a tech to reprogram it and issued credits for the billing errors.
Michelle was right - meter programming issue. SDG&E confirmed the meter was only programmed for two time periods instead of three. They're sending a tech next week and processing 14 months of retroactive credits.
How much in credits are you looking at Bob? I have a potential SDG&E TOU client and want to know if this type of error is worth checking for.
Glenda - total credit was $18,400 for 14 months. Client uses a lot of power during overnight hours for their manufacturing process, so the super off-peak rate makes a big difference. Definitely worth checking.
Multi-tier TOU rates like SDG&E's require extra attention to meter programming and billing system configuration. The more complex the rate structure, the higher the chance for errors.
