Louisville Gas & Electric issue here. Manufacturing client on Schedule TOU. Peak hours are supposed to be 9am-9pm Monday through Friday only. But reviewing their interval data, Saturdays are being billed at peak rates during those same hours. LG&E tariff clearly excludes weekends from peak pricing.
LG&E weekend TOU billing error - Saturdays charged as weekdays
Steve - I've seen this before with LG&E. Their billing system had a glitch a few years back that included Saturdays in weekday TOU periods. File a billing dispute with copies of the tariff language. They're usually good about fixing it.
Had the same issue with a different LG&E customer last year. Took 4 months to get resolved but they did provide retroactive credits. The key is showing them their own tariff language about weekdays only.
Thanks guys. Filed the dispute with tariff references. LG&E acknowledged the error affects multiple TOU customers. They're doing a system-wide review and will issue credits automatically to affected accounts.
Steve, any update on the timeline for those credits? I have two LG&E TOU clients that might be affected by this same issue.
Weekend vs. weekday TOU billing errors are more common than they should be. Always verify that weekend hours are being billed at the correct off-peak rates per the published tariff.
