Just certified and submitting my first round of LOAs. Sent them to PSO in Oklahoma and OG&E two weeks ago. Haven't heard anything back. Is two weeks normal? When should I start following up?
How quickly should I expect data after submitting an LOA?
Two weeks is normal for Oklahoma utilities. PSO typically takes 10-15 business days. OG&E can be a bit faster, maybe 7-10 days. I follow up at the two-week mark with a polite phone call referencing my submission date and the account number. Most utilities will tell you the status — whether it's in queue, being processed, or if they need something additional. Don't be shy about calling. They process hundreds of requests and yours can get buried if you don't follow up.
Steve's timeline is accurate for most IOUs. General rules of thumb: municipal utilities 1-4 weeks depending on size, IOUs 1-3 weeks, co-ops highly variable from same-day to 6 weeks. Always follow up at the two-week mark. When you call, have your LOA submission date, the account number, and the customer's name ready. Be professional and patient — the billing clerks processing your request are usually handling dozens of other priorities.
PSO came through at exactly the three-week mark. OG&E was faster — got data in 12 days. Both sent PDF invoices by email. Starting my first real audit now. Thanks for setting expectations.
