Nearly lost access to a We Energies account because my LOA expired after 12 months and I didn't notice. Was in the middle of a dispute with the utility and suddenly they stopped returning my calls. Turns out the authorization had lapsed and they couldn't talk to me anymore. Had to scramble to get the client to sign a new one. Does anyone have a system for tracking LOA expiration dates?

Tracking LOA expiration dates so you don't lose access mid-audit
I use a simple calendar reminder system. When I submit an LOA I create a calendar event 30 days before the expiration date that says "Renew LOA — Client Name — Utility." If the engagement is still active I get the renewal signed before the old one expires. If the engagement is done I just let it lapse. Low-tech but it works.
Calendar reminders — so obvious I didn't think of it. Set them up for all my active LOAs this morning. Also going to start using 24-month expirations instead of 12 to give myself more runway. Thanks Norm.
